Dr. Alba treats each patient as though they are a member of his family. He understands that every patient is unique and that their orthodontic treatment should be tailored to their individual needs and desires. Dr. Alba understands the importance of the decision that patients and parents make in entrusting him with the care of their children or their care and he feels privileged to have the opportunity to get to know you and be involved with the positive impact that orthodontic treatment will have on your life. Orthodontics is not just a job for Dr. Alba, it is his passion. He takes pride in providing the most up to date, highest quality treatment for his patients. To do so, he regularly advances his knowledge through continuing education courses. Advancements in orthodontic treatment are always being made, and Dr. Alba and his staff members are committed to staying ahead of the curve. Some of the latest advancements involve treatment planning that is more focused on achieving results that will enhance facial appearance for a lifetime, self-ligating braces such as the Damon System which can make treatment more efficient, Invisalign treatment and numerous computer based advancements such as digital imaging and digitally based treatment. The digital advancements are particularly exciting and the use of some of the newer methods such as Insignia hold much promise for providing improved treatment in a shorter time. Training to be a specialist in orthodontics is a lengthy process. Dr. Alba received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Following the third year of undergraduate education he was granted early admission to the dental school at the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated 2nd in his class and was awarded membership in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. He was also honored for achievement awards in the areas of oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral medicine, and endodontics. Following dental school he was fortunate to be accepted into a general practice residency at Bethesda Naval Hospital which offered additional training in all aspects of dentistry. During this residency in the Navy Dr. Alba became interested in the specialty of orthodontics and furthered his education in this area by completing a residency for orthodontic specialty training at the University of Buffalo. He is Board Certified and a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Board of Orthodontics , the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics, the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists, and the American Dental Association. He is a member of and past president of the Harrisburg Area Dental Society. Dr. Alba and his staff have been recognized for excellence by being selected as a Harrisburg Magazine’s Readers Choice for the past five years. Dr. Alba and his wife Kathy have been strong supporters of the local community. They have two sons, Jeffrey and Gregory. Dr. Alba is an avid cyclist, enjoys an occasional game of golf, and plays guitar from time to time.
